My 5 your old daughter comes home from school with bags of candy, special v-day cards, and a giant stuffed bear, all from boys. Suddenly, I realized whats to come. Its all happening too fast. Just yesterday she spent the entire day wearing her dogie ears even when I went grocery shopping. They grow up so fast.

All below this line is techno babble and ranting on a serous email issue I had at work with Google. Feel free to avoid it if your not into these topics.
I have been having a lot of trouble getting my email out of google. My google apps account ran out of space. I spent a week researching it, I could pay $2000.00 for my domain to upgrade to the paid version. But this would only increase the email account size. I decided to look into other options, my account was the only one over 25% and I was at 98%.
It took 2 weeks to find out what to do. After a lot of reading, I decided not to use pop because you lose the status of the email (read/unread) and you loose all of your folders.
After reading, I found IMAP was the best. I found a number of programs designed to download/sync IMAP accounts. They did not work.
After a lot more reading, I found Thunderbird with IMAP was the best approach.
However, it took 3 more weeks for Thunderbird to index all of my mail and start to moving it. Meanwhile I was locked out of the account due to bandwidth limits. I couldn't do without my email access (I still had web access). Then I setup my home gmail account to pop mail from my work account to make space. That started to reduce my email on this account. But POP is only allowed to download 200 messages at a time.
After two more weeks, the email was off of my main account. I was now getting all my mail into my home account after a brief stop in my work account. Then I started to accidentally sent email to folks with my home account when responding. After having this problem, I decided to leave new mail in my work account and keep email in my home account (which I paid for), so I then deleted the email link from the work account to the home account, and then to my surprise all my email that was downloaded, was deleted.
I had most of the email backed up, but I lost a couple thousand emails including 400 emails that were unread from customers and employees.
I was pretty frustrated. Over all I found getting your email out of google and into another account was very hard, nearly impossible. I hope that my issues were due to being one of the early ones to have hit the email limit and google was not prepared for this event. I very much hope this situation was not created to force people into paying money for the accounts after its too late to make a change.
I think the service is very good for the price.
